" How's your baby? Are you okay? ", the principal showed empathy and eagerly waiting for her reaction.
" Thanks for your concern, the baby and I are good.", she kept in silence for a few seconds and continued, " I am sorry to say that I would like to resign......."

| A new chapter in my career |
Well, some of her colleagues thought she was having postpartum depression as she had been lying in bed since the second month of her pregnancy. She could not eat much, fragile, and the most nadir she experienced was the premature contractions and the severe pain of her swollen, huge, hematoma left foot.
After giving birth to a premature
baby, she was seeking a better alternative to restructure her life.
To achieve the win-win situation, she decided to resign as a government school
teacher and reinvent a new phase of working setting where she could have
flexibility to manage well between the career and family, especially taking
care for the miniature new born baby.

Life is not as easy as she expected.
She lost the lifetime-secured teaching profession and stable income plus
benefits. Everything started from scratch, yet she had faith in herself and
always believed that God doesn't close the door without opening another.
Looking at the two lovely boys, she
had no fear to confront the unprecedented future out there. Deep into her soul
and spirit, the most important ingredient in creating any happy family is love.
Every sacrifice and devotion was priceless.
On 1 January 2000, the very first
day of magnificent millennial year, the learning centre was officially launched
and operated in full force.
She began reading piles of book
related to education, entrepreneurship and management. With the knowledge
and skills gained from the previous experiences in education, she managed
to set up a learning centre and a kindergarten within 2 years with solid
support from her life partner who graduated magna and laude in science and
mathematics. A year later, he eventually resigned and became the main role of
the learning centre.

Throughout two decades, she
realised that teaching itself is easy, but not educating. To educate a child is
not an easy task indeed. It needs patience, empathy, and paradigm shift. The
mark-orientated policy oftentimes kills the interest and enthusiasm of the
students in the process of learning.

Starting from 4 students, went
through all the ups and downs, the number of students was growing gradually and
steadily. The efforts and perseverance were finally paid off when
the centre successfully clinched the recognition and respect from the students
and parents.

That was the most precious reward
and self-actualisation in her profession. All the sweet memories were pictured
on her smiling face whenever she received token of gratitude and regards
from the students and parents.
