Hidden gem at One Utama Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur

Shopping at malls has been a pleasant to-do hobby let alone in a hustle-bustle of a  metropolitan city.

There are about 50 shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. One Utama, Midvalley, Sunway Pyramid and Paradigm Mall are those among my most favourite shopping malls.

Shopping is not merely for satisfying the taste buds or purchasing goods, but a place where I update and augment my exposure and creativity.

A vibrant and  almost-have-everything shopping mall, in  fact, is a 'one stone two birds' place to collect contemporary information while doing weekly 'marketing' .

A couple of days ago, after having lunch at the always full-house Japanese restaurant, we had a random look-see, and a crowd of people at the outdoor lush green scenery drew my attention and curiosity.

Stepping out towards the crowd was an inviting shady man-made rainforest setting where a swarm of koi fish were swimming in a drain-like pond.  I used to visit One Utama shopping mall, hardly did I realize there is a another hidden gem at the rooftop of the building.

We spent about 45 minutes, strolling through The Secret Garden at the rooftop of One Utama shopping mall and it's impressive indeed.

I could see the sweat, and hardwork pour into this secret garden.

It  occupies 30, 000 sq ft , featuring about 500 spices of beautiful, rare and unusual plants. It took 5 years to develop and opened in 2009.

Amazon Water Lily (Victoria Amazonica) and Thousand Roots (Cissus Nodosa) were the most attractive among so many rare plants. Others including Striped Costus, Rangoon Creeper, Curvy Agave, Giant Colocasia etc.

As I have just started a new adventure in Kuala Lumpur, it's amazing to find the largest rooftop garden in Southeast Asia in the middle of  high-rise buildings.

From my points of view, more such well- maintained 'secret gardens' should be created  not only at the shopping malls,  but in the housing areas especially for high-density populated areas, where city people to release stress and refresh at the same time go green to reduce global warming!
