Teach him to fish

Teach him to fish

Chinese philosopher, founder of Taoism,  Lao Tzu once said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

Basically this adage reiterates the importance of teaching the skills of self-surviving instead of dependency.

In the reality, there is a huge number of people out there are too depending on the others to carry on their daily lives. To be more specific, these people are too lazy to move on and find ways to feed themselves.

Giving "fish" away will only solve the difficulties faced tentatively, and it is not a wise choice to root up the underlying predicament in the long run.

On the contrary,  it might stimulate negative impact to the development and structure of the society and at the same time jeopardize the mindset and attitude of an individual and the  nation.

Parents, educators, guardians, mentors or leaders should comprehend the profound value of this adage.
